Modern Slavery Statement
Removals Harringay Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Removals Harringay to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently and in full compliance with applicable laws relating to modern slavery.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Removals Harringay has a clear, unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, and human trafficking. We do not tolerate any practice that exploits individuals, undermines their fundamental rights or deprives them of their freedom. This applies to every aspect of our business, including recruitment, employment conditions, subcontracting, sourcing of materials, and the engagement of third-party labour.
All employees, managers, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this policy. Any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery connected to our operations will trigger immediate investigation and, where appropriate, termination of relationships with the parties involved and reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals Harringay provides removals and related services. Our supply chains primarily include providers of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, storage facilities, equipment maintenance, and labour support services. We recognise that certain sectors, such as logistics, temporary labour provision and some international supply arrangements, can present a higher risk of modern slavery. We therefore take a risk-based and proportionate approach to due diligence in these areas.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As a condition of doing business with Removals Harringay, suppliers must confirm that they do not engage in or support modern slavery and that they comply with relevant labour and human rights legislation in the jurisdictions where they operate.
We conduct supplier due diligence to assess the risk of modern slavery. This may include requesting information on labour practices, reviewing relevant policies, and assessing the supplier’s own supply chain management. Where we identify higher risk, we may conduct more detailed checks or onsite reviews.
Removals Harringay reserves the right to conduct audits of suppliers, either directly or through independent auditors, to verify compliance with our standards. Where non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timelines. Persistent or serious breaches may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Training, Awareness and Responsibilities
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery lies with senior management, who ensure that policies are implemented and reviewed. Managers with responsibility for procurement, recruitment and subcontracting receive guidance on identifying and managing modern slavery risks.
We promote awareness of modern slavery among our staff so that they understand what constitutes exploitation and how to respond to concerns. Employees are encouraged to familiarise themselves with our policies on ethical conduct, human rights and whistleblowing.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Removals Harringay is committed to creating an environment where concerns about modern slavery can be raised safely and confidentially. Employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders can report suspected cases of modern slavery or unethical practices through established internal reporting channels.
Reports can be made to line managers or senior management. We treat all concerns seriously and, where appropriate, investigate promptly and impartially. No one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment for doing so. If necessary, we will involve external specialists or authorities to ensure that allegations are properly addressed.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Removals Harringay recognises that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process. We continually seek to improve our practices by monitoring changes in legislation, industry standards and best practice guidance. Lessons learned from audits, investigations, and staff feedback are used to strengthen our procedures and controls.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness. As part of the annual review, we assess our risk profile, evaluate the performance of our due diligence measures, and identify priorities for further action. Updated versions of this statement are approved at the highest appropriate level within the company.
By issuing this statement, Removals Harringay reaffirms its commitment to acting ethically, supporting the protection of human rights and working to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from our business and supply chains.
